According to the book "Languages in a Global World: Learning for Better Cultural Understanding" education and culture are highly attached if societies want to be successful in politics, economics and development fields. I strongly agree with that idea! From my own experience as an educator and philanthropist, I have seen the power of using a second language to transmit important messages to other educators, students and volunteers all around the world who want deep changes in the current educational system.
I think big changes start from small actions. This website is a first step empowering my students to believe in themselves. To explain, they are producing ideas in another language and sharing them with other students around the world! Also, they are being encouraged to know about new cultures and understand that we have different religions, food, and uniforms, but in the end face similar problems and want the same, to have a future and be successful. The board stopped being the only resource we had and we understood that making mistakes is okay, because this is the best way of learning a new language!
During this process, we started to use some methods and approaches that make the lessons more entertaining! I invite you to check them out!
Art and imitation:
In this lesson, we drew a friend from the class. We described him/her using previous concepts such as physical appearance vocabulary and some adjectives about personality. As you can see, they received their drawing and took a picture imitating the result! it was really funny and they used English implicitly, making fun of features when drawing!
Take a look at other methods, strategies, and games week by week in this section!
