According to the University of Georgia, in its document "Finding Reliable Sources: What is a Reliable Source?" A reliable resource "provides a thorough, well-reasoned theory, argument, discussion, etc. based on strong evidence" (p 1). As language teachers, our first purpose must be that students can communicate and understand ideas in real-life situations. But this objective is nothing when we don't use contextualized material that helps them to link up the culture and the language naturally. In this short post, I will recommend some trustworthy resources that I usually use in my classes and why they are my allies in this process.

Books, magazines, and newspapers

https://frenglish.ru/16_eng_books.html This amazing page has lots of resources to download in different languages. The best part is that audio, books, and worksheets are free. Just check it out!

https://www.penguin.co.uk/ This wonderful company has created books since 1934, and nowadays is available online! You have to pay to obtain the resources, but the books are specially divided and prepared by proficiency levels, so you can choose and obtain better results in the classroom. I strongly think that investing in this kind of material facilitates your role in the classroom.

https://newsela.com/  This wonderful page has free and paid access depending on the possibilities of teacher. Its main purpose is to connect stories with interesting ways of practicing them through online games, audio, multiple-choice exercises, and slides. The level of the stories can be adapted, and their content is very catching!

BBC Learning English and the British Council are wonderful pages to look for short reading exercises divided by proficiency levels and communicative purposes. For example, Words in the News.  BBC Worksheets to download and Reading skills  . In addition, newspapers such as The New York Times, The Sun, or The Guardian are great, reliable resources to look for current important news. Its membership could be around 10 USD per year, which makes it affordable and very convenient to have better and successful lessons with a real connection to the language.

Finally, in Colombia, the Ministry of Education created the page https://eco.colombiaaprende.edu.co/textbooks/ In this interesting place, you will find complete books to teach English with Students´book, Teachers´book and a guide book that will help you to achieve results easily and fall in love with my beautiful country, regarding that the contents are very related to my culture from the point of view of language in context.

Even if some of those pages are in a different language (for the people who read this Blog around the world), computers already have the chance to translate your pages to find easily the links to click and don´t miss the chance to learn from other wonderful materials and countries.
